Canadian Broadcasting Corporation/Radio-Canada Wins Gold Apex Award

We are very proud to announce that our certified partner Telecine Multimedia and customer Canadian Broadcasting Corporation/Radio-Canada won a Gold Apex Award in the business, industry & government category at Digital Signage Expo 2012.

Radio-Canada was recognized for showcasing a wealth of content that reflects the broadcaster’s values, creativity and cultural heritage.

The digital signage solution – displayed at Maison de Radio-Canada, the crown corporation’s regional headquarters in Montreal, Quebec – uses a past-present-future concept media approach. Key moments in Radio-Canada’s history and ongoing development were made readily accessible to the building’s 3,000 employees and 80,000 annual visitors. The content takes visitors through a Canadian media journey, from radio and TV to the Internet and evolving social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

The solution employs Scala digital communication software to support content creation, management and distribution in the digital signage network. Telecine Multimedia implemented the solution.

Our CEO Tom Nix said, “We congratulate Radio-Canada on receiving this prestigious award and Scala is honored to have contributed to this truly Canadian media journey that delights visitors through sight, sound and touch.”

Scala Customer holyfields Wins Gold Apex Award

We congratulate our customer holyfields restaurant which won a Gold Apex Award in the food & beverage category at Digital Signage Expo 2012.

holyfields, which is located in Germany, was recognized for creating a unique self-service ordering system – powered by Scala digital communication software – to improve the customer dining experience.

With the goal of providing a digital ordering system to speed up the ordering process, holyfields offers user-friendly self-service kiosks. To order a meal, customers simply select their preferred food and drink at a kiosk and then proceed to a cashier. They receive pagers that alert them from their tables when food is ready for pick-up.

The system has proven to help customers eliminate time wasted waiting for someone to seat them, take their orders and serve their meals. Guests at holyfields have more time to enjoy their dining experience with friends and family than at an ordinary quick service restaurant.

The holyfields kiosks use Scala digital communication software to support content creation, management and distribution on the restaurant kiosks.

DSE 2012 Day One Recap

Day one at DSE 2012 was really exciting!

Here are some key highlights of the day:

It all began with the ribbon cutting…

We at Scala launched our Advanced Analytics and CxO board solutions today at DSE. They were among the most popular solutions at our booth and attendees were engaged in learning more about these products.

Among our speakers, retail expert Marcy Patzer gave a talk on “Harnessing Your Digital Power.” Using customer examples, Marcy explained how organizations can achieve the goals they set with their digital signage strategies.

Managing Director of the Elevator Group Luc Heijnen also gave a talk on how organizations can use a rich media canvas to engage with their customers. Key takeaways from Luc’s talk were:

  • Start a conversation and ultimately become the trusted intermediate.
  • Customers are surfing across the different communication channels, looking for the right information at the right time at the right location.
  • Make sure that all channels are used to their specific virtue, not limitations.
  • Make content relevant, add as many human senses as necessary to create a wow-experience, innovate - as a function of the (interactive) conversation.

Last but not the least; SignChannel President Jeff Porter also talked about innovative cost effective digital signage solutions that the company offers.

As we get ready for day two at DSE 2012, we want to thank everyone for stopping by our booth!
